After the department of medical services, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH)

After the department of medical services, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), has issued Home Isolation and Community Isolation to reduce the bed crisis. As a result, the “Telemedicine” system is another essential tool in connecting the service facilities and the patients during the Covid-19 situation that is currently raging.

Telemedicine is being used in many healthcare settings now to help doctors and nurses communicate and observe the symptoms of Covid-19 patients while undergoing isolation at home or in the community through chatting via the online system.

“The Coverage” had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Phongchai Petsanghan, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Precision Diet Co., Ltd. or Dietz.asia, one of Thailand’s Health-Tech companies, about their participation in setting up the Telemedicine system for home isolation and community isolation for hospitals across the country for free of charge. Moreover, the system has been expanded to use in more than 50 hospitals across the country.

Mr. Phongchai talked about his personal experience that he previously had the opportunity to create Cove-19 Trackers for hospitals to help care for patients, including ANSQ or Alternative National Quarantine Areas for foreigners and Thais. However, this part was silent because the epidemic was not as high as today at the end of last year.

Until entering the period of April 2021, when the system has a chance to come back again, after the third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, the system was used initially in field hospitals and Hospitels (places for the patients who have already received treatment in a regular hospital with better amenities, softer mattresses and more private quarters). However, with the increasing epidemic situation resulted in many hospitals expanding into home isolation and community isolation to accommodate more COVID-19 patients.

“I worked in Software House before, and about 3-4 years ago, I came to focus on healthcare because I want to meet the needs at the beginning of work. As previously thought, I want to do something for society to help our fellow human beings,” said Mr. Phongchai.

Mr. Phongchai continued to say that Dietz’s service model, Covid-19 Home Isolation Telemedicine, will take care of various chronic disease patients, which will have standard prices for both public and private hospitals. In addition, in the case of a service system for use in the organization or factory to maintain and store employees’ health information will also have the same standard price.

However, this Covid-19 Home Isolation Telemedicine system is provided free of charge to hospitals across the country for better care of COVID-19 patients, which patients will be able to observe their symptoms. So it’s not just about seeing a doctor and finishing up.

“There is one case; the patient is at home and must observe or monitor himself. He had to measure the his blood oxygen, sent to the hospital twice a day, and found that the blood oxygen value dropped in the evening. When the nurses saw the information, they prepared the bed and car and coordinated the patient to come to the hospital for an examination. This shows that our system can monitor patients effectively,” said Mr. Phongchai.

Mr. Phongchai continued that, of course, the government already has a Telemedicine system, but the Telemedicine system of the company will be able to monitor, communicate, and follow up on patients. Moreover, it is also a system that facilitates people to use it more easily. The patients quickly add Line at the specified service location. Then it will give the patient a name and user ID in order to be able to use the system.

“Even if you only have one mobile phone, you can use it. In the case of 6 people living together, they can report together using just one mobile phone. The users have just needed to log in and out of their ID. Especially for patients in the rural areas who may not have access to the government system, can also be used.”

“I was an app maker before; I used to make diabetes apps, but when I put it into practice all over the country, I found that some groups of villagers in remote areas cannot download and install an app; So they have canceled the app. Therefore, I used Line this time because most villagers will have a chance to access more,” said Mr. Phongchai.

Mr. Phongchai said that, in April, Dietz had the opportunity to create a Telehealth Center for a hospital in Ayutthaya. It was the first Telehealth Center for Thai government hospitals due to the fact that some private hospitals have already started doing such a system.

The company has prepared a room where the Telehealth system is placed for the hospital. The room has a computer that can be used stably with an internet system. The doctors can talk to or contact patients quickly and take care of more patients, covering all covid-19 patients and patients with other disease groups.

Meanwhile, the company has expanded its Covid-19 Home Isolation Telemedicine system to more than 50 locations nationwide for free of charge. Mr. Phongchai is estimated to have around 5,000 active patients in the system.

“We go as trainers, like a teacher, to train the people of the hospital to use it effectively. When they are well trained, we will try to open the system within one day as our system is ready-to-use. If any hospital wants our system to help reduce the risk and the workload for personnel, we are happy to help without charge,” said Mr. Phongchai.
